- State councilor calls for more co-op in periodical industry

Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili has called on domestic publishers to learn more from foreign counterparts so as to contribute to the prosperity of the world's periodical industry.
Chen made the appeal at the ongoing 36th World Magazine Congress held in Beijing from May 13 to 15.
'Chinese publishers should draw on advanced foreign expertise in publishing, circulation and management to enhance their international competitiveness,' she said.
She said cooperation between foreign and domestic publishers was a global trend.
'As information flows become increasingly digital and network-based, links between publishers in different countries will become closer and closer,' said Chen.
The World Magazine Congress, initiated by the International Federation of the Periodical Press, founded in 1925, is held every two years. The theme of this year's discussion was 'magazines enrich your world'.
