- Southern Air dismisses merger reports

CHINA Southern Airlines, the country's largest carrier by fleet size, said Thursday it has no merger and acquisition plans other than its previously announced cargo deal.
China Southern made the announcement in response to media reports Wednesday that Air China Ltd., the country's flagship carrier, would consider the option of merging with other domestic airlines, including China Southern, if opportunities arose. 'The reports are inaccurate,'China Southern said in a statement, adding it has no major asset restructuring plans other than its ongoing talks with Air France KLM to cooperate on cargo business.
