- Beijing airport to open third runway

BEIJING Capital International Airport, Asia's second-busiest airfield, will open a third runway in October to meet air traffic demand during the 2008 Olympic Games.
The 200 million yuan (US$26 million) facility will raise the airport's capacity by half to 90 flights an hour, the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China said in a statement on its Web site yesterday. The runway will undergo trial operations for an unspecified period beginning in October, it added.
