SilkAir to add 4 flights per week to SZ
SINGAPORE'S SilkAir will introduce four more flights per week from Singapore to Shenzhen beginning May 25, sources with the airline said Tuesday.
The additional flights will raise the number of flights from Singapore to Shenzhen to 11 per week, and boost the company's transport capacity on the route to 1,088 seats a week. After the new flights become operational there will be two flights daily Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. SilkAir started operating six flights weekly to Shenzhen on Oct. 30, 2005, and began to offer daily flights in March 2007. Apart from the increase in flights, SilkAir will change its flight departure schedule in Shenzhen to provide passengers with more flexibility of transfer from Singapore to Southeast Asia, West Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
Huawei to invest <00A5>4b in Dongguan
SHENZHEN-BASED Huawei Technologies, a leading telecommunications equipment maker, will complete the first phase of its investment in neighboring Dongguan City at the end of this year and put it into operation early next year.
Upon completion of its first and second phase, with a total investment of 4 billion yuan (US$519 million), the venture will be capable of yielding 60 billion to 70 billion yuan a year.
Software association partners with WSA
THE WSA, the United States' oldest and largest technology trade organization, announced early this month plans to partner with the Shenzhen Software Industry Association (SSIA), one of the oldest local associations of the China Software Industry Association.
In addition, the WSA said it will open a business office in Shenzhen to support this initiative. The WSA office, which will serve as a two-way bridge between the Pacific Northwest and China, will open in Shenzhen within the next couple of months. Ken Myer, president and chief executive officer of the WSA, said this partnership with the SSIA will strengthen the State's technology ties to China and assist WSA members who may be interested in developing or adapting their products for the Chinese market.
