CHINA'S civil aviation regulator said it plans to add 27 international routes to Europe and America over the next two years, domestic media reported.
The new routes will be operated by five companies including Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Hainan Airlines during 2008 and 2009, the Xinhua news agency reported Sunday, citing the General Administration of Civil Aviation.
Under the preliminary plan, 206 additional flights will be added to existing routes connecting China with Europe and the United States, the report said.
The routes should boost the development of international transport amid the introduction of wide-body aircraft - the Boeing B787 and Airbus A380 - by Chinese carriers, the agency was quoted as saying.
Analysts say those routes into Europe and America are currently dominated by well-known carriers like Singapore Airlines and United Airlines.
