THE U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has ended a yearlong investigation into three Shenzhen companies accused of intellectual property rights (IPR) infringement on U.S. digital multimeter producer Fluke Corp., the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Thursday.
The three companies, Shenzhen Victor Hi-Tech Co., Precision Mastech Enterprises Co. and Shenzhen Everbest Machinery Industry Co., were cleared of all charges of IPR infringement in July. The other Shenzhen-based company, Digitek Instruments Co., also reached a compromise with Fluke at the same time.
Zhang Jinsheng, director of the Shenzhen WTO Affairs Center, said the victory was a landmark event in Shenzhen's history of foreign trade. 'It was the first time Shenzhen companies have dealt with an IPR investigation as a group,'said Zhang.
The ITC started the investigation Nov. 6, 2006 after Fluke, a leading multimeter producer in the United States, filed a complaint with the ITC, alleging the Shenzhen companies had copied its trademark.
