- Statistics bureau to adjust CPI weightings

THE National Bureau of Statistics will adjust the weightings of China's consumer price index (CPI) components this year, the Xinhua news agency reported Friday.
The report didn't say how or why the weightings would be adjusted, but bureau director Xie Fuzhan said in a statement posted on the bureau's Web site Thursday that the agency's work aims to help the government with its macroeconomic controls. He said macroeconomic indicators for fixed-asset investment, productivity and property would be improved.
