- Lenovo in talks to buy Packard Bell

LENOVO Group Ltd., the world's third-biggest maker of personal computers, said yesterday it is in talks with an independent third party to buy Packard Bell BV.
Lenovo is negotiating and making the necessary enquiries to prepare for a possible acquisition, the company said in a statement. It didn't identify the third party. NEC Corp., Japan's largest PC maker, sold Packard Bell, its consumer PC unit, to Lap Shun Hui in October 2006.
