- TCL's PC head resigns
Date: 27-Jul-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
THE head of the personal computer subsidiary of Shenzhen-listed TCL Corp. has resigned, fueling speculation that the television and cellphone maker might sell the unit, the Securities Times said Thursday.
Yang Weiqiang, TCL's vice president and general manager of the PC unit, told colleagues his resignation was due to personal reasons, the newspaper reported, quoting unnamed company officials. It quoted analysts as saying the resignation may have been prompted by TCL's efforts to cut costs at the PC unit, which lost more than 50 million yuan (US$6.6 million) last year, and by the possibility that the unit could be sold.
