  • China customs post 22% growth in revenues
    Date: 15-Oct-2007 Sources: (Xinhua Online)

BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese customs authorities reported Sunday a 22 percent year-on-year rise in revenues in the first nine months, fueled by the country's booming trade.

Net revenues rose to 562.4 billion yuan (74.99 billion U.S. dollars), up from 462 billion yuan in the same period last year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

As China tried to expand imports and curb processing trade, imports in non-processing trade surged 24.6 percent year on year to 309.5 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months, serving as a major contributor to the revenues.

From January to September, China's exports rose 27.1 percent to 878.2 billion U.S. dollars, while imports were up 19.1 percent to 692.6 billion U.S. dollars.
