Date: 30-Mar-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
REGULATORS are considering reducing a tax rebate on garment exports as part of efforts to narrow the country's trade surplus, the China Securities Journal reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources.
The government may cut the tax rebate on garment exports to 11 percent from 13 percent, with the cut to take effect April 15 if it is approved, the report said. Tax rebates on exports of suitcases, toys and shoes may also be cut, it said, without elaborating.
