- End-April deadline for new energy pricing

THE National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has set an end-April deadline for local governments to implement a differentiated energy pricing scheme that is intended to charge higher energy prices to high-energy-consuming industries.
The policy, issued in September 2006 by the NDRC and the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, targets cement, iron and steel, and other high-energy-consuming industries with higher energy prices and forbids localities from offering them preferential energy pricing.
