- Samsung to double China LCD plant output
Date: 8-Feb-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
SAMSUNG Electronics Co. Ltd., the world's top LCD maker, plans to double the output of its liquid crystal display plant in eastern China's Suzhou City to meet rapidly growing demand, industry sources said Tuesday.
Samsung's Suzhou plant currently makes around 1 million LCD units, which go into flat screen TVs and PC monitors, per month. The South Korean company has already started on the project, said the sources, who are familiar with the plan. One source said the expansion would be completed by the end of this year. But it is unclear by how much Samsung plans to increase its investment in the plant - established in late 2002 with an initial investment of US$300 million.
