Ten marketing leaders in consumer electronics were recognized on Monday as 'Top Brands from China' in awards presented by TWICE China, an event coinciding with the opening of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is North America's largest trade show.
The awards were presented to Haier, Lenovo, TCL, Hisense, GreatWall, Skyworth, Konka, BenQ, Tongfang and Desay.
They come at a time when Chinese manufactures of consumer electronics are reaching the global markets of North America, South America, Europe and Asia for customers.
The awards were sponsored by TWICE China, which is a leading business journal of the consumer electronics industry in China. TWICE China is produced under a joint venture of Reed Business Information (RBI) and International Data Group (IDG).
Chinese consumers were asked to choose the 10 leading brands from a list of 20 choices and to cast votes at one of two websites--www.sina.com.cn, the largest portal website in China, orwww.twicechina.com.
Those results were given to a group of 50 brand experts from China and abroad along with sales data from the Chinese Ministry of Information and IDG, which produced the final ranking.
'In the constantly changing and complicated international market, the Chinese enterprises have already proved their strengthand advantages,' said Hugo Shong, executive vice president of IDG.
'However, how to establish the high-quality image of China brands is puzzling them most. It is very attractive for (the winners) to have won the awards during the worldwide CES show.'
He added that Chinese manufacturers of consumer electronics can no longer be satisfied serving as just product processors for other multi-national companies. The companies have evolved from 'product out' to'brand out' suppliers with overseas business built upon their own brands.
The awards were presented at a lunceon at the MGM Grand Hotel. Each winner received a cystal cup.
