SHENZHEN residents flocked to the China (Shenzhen) International Finance Exposition 2007 Friday and Saturday, hoping to find a better way to manage their wealth amid a recent slump in the stock market.
More than 200 financial organizations and over 300 financial experts attended the exposition at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. Although the financial industry is one of the mainstay industries of Shenzhen, it was the first time Shenzhen had held such an international financial exposition.
New financing services targeting small and medium enterprises as well as individuals attracted many people from Shenzhen and neighboring cities. A visitor surnamed Li said the exposition provided people a good platform to know more about the development of international financing.
The expo also featured talks given by foreign bankers and investment consultants. Dary I. Guppy, a stock investment expert, and Mark D. Cook, winner of the United States Investing Championship, spoke about stock trends.
Overseas financial organizations also attended the exposition to seek potential market opportunities in China. The exposition gave foreign firms a great chance to communicate with Chinese companies, Cook said. One-third of the financial organizations attending the exposition were from overseas, according to an official with Shenzhen Trade Promotion Association, one of the organizers.
Expanded from the Small and Medium Enterprises Investment and Financing Exchange last year, the exposition comprised three parts: financing and stock services for small and medium-sized enterprises, an international financial exhibition and individual financing services.
