  • Commodities fair attracts SZ firms

    AS of July 23, 35 Shenzhen companies had applied to participate in the 2007 China Yiwu International Commodities Fair, which will be held in Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang Province from October 22 to 26.

    So far a total of 2,275 companies from China and abroad, of which 201 are from Guangdong Province, have applied to display their goods in this year's fair, with 4,205 booths booked.

    China Yiwu International Commodities Fair, which was first held in 1995, has become China's biggest consumer goods fair.

    Last year alone, the fair with 4,000 display booths attracted 2,203 manufactures from more than 20 countries and regions, of which more than 300 were from Shenzhen. More than 200,000 kinds of products were on display.

    The fair also attracted 103,000 professional buyers from 162 countries and regions, who signed deals worth a total of 9.45 billion yuan, including export agreements totaling US$7.8 million.

    The fair is organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Zhejiang Provincial Government, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China National Light Industry Council and China General Chamber of Commerce.
