- Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair opens

The 26th Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair was launched here Wednesday, with more than 800 exhibitors joining the event.
Jointly organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd and the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades and Industries Ltd, the five-day-event has gathered more than 800 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions.
This year, the fair's Brand Name Gallery showcases 110 prestigious brands and designer collections, up more than 14 per cent over last year. The popular Asian Watch Conference also takes place during the fair period.
Besides, there are Mini-watch parades throughout the fair period highlighting some of the outstanding designs from exhibitors.
According to figures given by the Fair Organizing Committee, Hong Kong watch and clock exports totaled 22 billion HK dollars ( about 2.82 billion U.S. dollars) in the first six months of 2007, up 5.2 percent over last year.
Hong Kong is the second-largest watch and clock exporter in the world, with exports to the United States and Europe making up 40 percent of the total, Wai said.
