- Lead exports expected to rise

CHINA, the world's biggest lead maker, will have 24 percent more of the metal available for export next year as production rises faster than domestic demand, according to Beijing Antaike Information Development Co.
The country will have 351,000 metric tons for shipment overseas in 2008 compared with 282,000 tons this year, Zhang Changhai, Antaike's lead analyst, told a conference in Nanjing yesterday. Exports this year may be 250,000 tons, he said. Increased supplies of lead from China may alleviate a global shortage that has pushed prices up 76 percent this year, making the metal the best-performing commodity.
