SHANGHAI copper futures fell by 4 percent, the maximum daily limit, Thursday when the market reopened after the New Year holiday.
The most active March contract dropped 2,700 yuan (US$337.5) at the start of trading to 57,380 yuan a ton, as the market tried to catch up with the more than 7 percent drop in London Metal Exchange futures since the start of the year.
