A group of 12 Chinese companies Thursday signed agreements with Pakistani counterparts in Islamabad to purchase 210 million U.S. dollars' worth goods from Pakistan, officials said.

Representatives of the Chinese companies including two world's top 500, China Minmetals Corporation and Sinochem Corporation, Thursday held talks with Pakistani companies on importing Pakistan 's advantageous products, such as chrome ore, marble, cotton yarn, leather, cotton linters, celestite and guar bean, to China, according to officials from Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.

This is part of Chinese efforts in balancing the trade between China and Pakistan, officials told Xinhua.

The recent years witnessed a rapid growth of China-Pakistan trade, which increased by 20 percent for three consecutive years.

Chinese official figures showed that in 2006, the bilateral trade reached a record level of 5.25 billion U.S. dollars.

China will continue to work together with the Pakistani side to promote the sound and stable development of the bilateral economic relations and trade, said a press release by Commercial Section of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan.

A Chinese economic and trade delegation, led by Assistant Minister of Commerce of China Wang Chao, is currently on a two-day visit in Pakistan, which started on July 18. The 12 Chinese companies joined the delegation.
