China Network Communications Corporation (CNC), the country's second largest fixed-line operator, will use search engine giant Google to provide Internet search services for its 16 million broadband users, Thursday's China Business News (CBN) reports.

According to the agreement, the Google search bar will be put on the website of its broadband service for users to search the Internet for information while remaining on the Netcom page.

'The cooperation with Google is aimed at improving the company's competitiveness in integrating Internet services while offering broadband users the most advanced Internet applications,' Zuo Feng, general manager of CNC China Netcom Broadband Corp., told CBN.

China Netcom Broadband Corp. is a subsidiary company of CNC which was established in May, 2006 to offer content and value-added applications for the broadband and wireless network.

China Telecom, the country's largest fixed-line operator, signed an agreement with Microsoft to launch the search service for its 25 million broadband users in September, 2006. China Mobile announced its cooperation with Google this January.
