- Fixed-asset investment growth up 24%

CHINA'S national fixed-asset investment rose around 24 percent in 2006, according to initial estimates, a senior official at the country's economic planning agency said yesterday.
That compares with the 27.3 percent growth in China's national fixed-asset investment, the widest measure of investment in China's economy, in the January-September period last year. The rate of growth in fixed-asset investment remains above the country's targeted growth rate, said Han Yongwen, secretary general at the National Development and Reform Commission. The State Council targeted an 18 percent rise for fixed-asset investment growth last year.
