- Govt. may increase total QFII quota
Date: 27-Mar-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
THE government may increase the total quota for foreign investors to invest in China's capital market under the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFII) program by US$6 billion, the China Daily reported over the weekend, citing an unnamed industry insider.
The government had set a total quota of US$10 billion on foreign investments in listed yuan-denominated securities as part of the QFII program, but that limit has nearly been reached. The QFII program, which was launched in mid-2003, allows approved foreign institutional investors to trade yuan-denominated securities listed on exchanges in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
