- Sri Lankan president hopes to see more investors from China

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse expressed his hope here Thursday that more Chinese investors will go to Sri Lanka.
Rajapakse arrived at the economic hub of China Thursday morning to continuing his one-week state visit to China.
When meeting Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng at Thursday noon, Rajapakse said China has made great achievements in economic development and Sri Lanka sincerely hopes to strengthen economic cooperation with Shanghai and other regions of China.
Han briefed Rajapakse on Shanghai's economic development in recent years.
Rajapakse said there is great complementarity in economy between Sri Lanka and Shanghai and thus a big potential for cooperation, especially on infrastructure and project contract cooperation, and he hoped more Chinese investors will go to Sri Lanka for investments and cooperation.
During his stay in Beijing, Rajapakse held talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao. He also met with Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao respectively.
Rajapakse has presented three gifts to China during his visit: two corneas to be used for transplants in China, a replica of a Buddha statue, and a five-year old male elephant.
Besides Beijing and Shanghai, Rajapakse will also visit Guangzhou, capital city of the booming Guangdong Province in south China, and Hubei province in central China.
Rajapakse was invited by Hu for a state visit to China from Feb. 26 to March 4.
