Chinese President Hu Jintao wrote a letter to a group of young model workers to extend his greetings on the occasion of Chinese Youth Day on May 4, which is coincident with the 85th anniversary of the Communist Youth League of China.
Hu spoke highly of the great contribution made by the young people generation after generation to the socialist revolution, construction and reform, including the outstanding achievements made by young model workers.
He stressed in his letter that the country needs young people to shoulder the responsibilities of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, pushing forward modernization and realizing the Chinese nation's revitalization.
The president expected young people to bear in mind the trust of the Chinese Communist Party and the people, and make themselves far-sighted, strong-willed, knowledgeable and hard-working.
Wang Zhaoguo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said at the conference of young model workers that young people should learn from model workers, grow up through practice, and make more contribution to the country.
Wang also awarded medals to the model workers.
