Date: 7-Dec-2006 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
BAOSHAN Iron and Steel Co. is expected to produce about 6 percent more crude steel in 2007 than in 2006 as it ramps up production to feed China's robust economy, a source close to the company said yesterday.
Baosteel, the listed arm of China's largest steel mill, is forecast to produce about 22 million tons of crude steel in 2007, compared with projected 2006 production of 20.66 million tons, the source said. Baosteel in March had predicted that its 2006 crude steel output would reach 20.83 million tons, and its crude steel output in 2005 was 18.36 million tons.
