- Chalco wins approval to buy Baotou

ALUMINUM Corp. of China Ltd. (Chalco), the nation's largest producer of the metal, won regulatory approval to buy rival Baotou Aluminum Co.
Chalco was given approval to offer shares or cash for Baotou's stock from the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Hong Kong and Shanghai-listed Chalco said in a statement yesterday. In August, Baotou Aluminum's shareholders agreed to the company being taken over by Chalco.
