- Huludao Zinc to up lead output

HULUDAO Zinc Industry Co. will raise its lead output in the second half of this year, with new production capacity coming on stream, but may still miss its total output target for the year.
'We'll raise the monthly (lead) production to 1,800-2,000 (metric) tons in the second half of this year, from about 1,200 tons in the first half,'said an executive with the company's planning department. The 30,000-ton-per-year lead project will be finished later this month, he said. The Shenzhen-listed company earlier set the 2007 lead output target at 21,000 tons. However, lead concentrate is 'so expensive now that smelting isn't an attractive business?even though lead prices are high, he said.
