- Chalco raises alumina prices by 8 percent

ALUMINUM Corp. of China Ltd. (Chalco), the world's second-largest producer of alumina, raised the spot price of its main product by about 8 percent to 3,900 yuan (US$504.53) per ton, the company said in a statement on its Web site yesterday.
This is the second price hike in less than 2 months after it last increased the alumina spot price by 50 percent to 3,600 yuan a ton.
