YUNNAN Chihong Zinc and Germanium will build a lead and zinc smelter in Inner Mongolia if a mining deposit nearby proves to have sufficient reserves, the Shanghai-listed company said in a statement yesterday.
The company said it would build a smelter designed to produce 100,000 tons of lead and 100,000 tons of zinc per year in Hulun Buir City, if lead and zinc reserves in the region's deposit were proved to exceed 2 million tons. It gave no further details of the deposit or a timetable for the smelter.
