  • Central bank: non-ferrous metals prices surge

    China's non-ferrous metals prices rose by 6 percent in April compared with that of last month and 16 percent higher over the prices a year ago, the People's Bank of China (PBOC) said here Monday.

    The country's overall corporate goods prices (CGP), reflecting the price changes of products traded by corporations and tracing overall price fluctuations, rose by 0.6 percent month on month in April and 4.6 percent year on year, according to the monthly CGP report released by the PBOC.

    Copper prices rose by 12.4 percent month on month in April and 20.6 percent year on year while alumina prices grew 6.1 percent month on month and were down 21 percent year on year.

    Prices of coal, oil and electricity were up 0.7 percent month on month in April, black metal prices up 1.6 percent, and steel up 2 percent.

    Prices of farm produce rose by 0.8 percent month on month and 9.1 percent year on year.
