- Changan profit likely more than triples
Date: 11-Jan-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
CHONGQING Changan Automobile Co., which makes vehicles in China with Ford Motor Co., said yesterday profit last year probably more than tripled from a year earlier, on demand for its Focus compact cars and Mondeo sedans.
Sales and profit at Changan's joint venture with Ford rose significantly in 2006, the automaker said in a statement. It didn't give an estimate for full-year figures. The joint venture benefited from Ford's expansion in the world's fastest-growing major auto market, as the U.S. carmaker introduced more models. Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Sales Co. sold a record 129,790 units of Ford-brand vehicles in 2006.
