THE government has included 10 automakers in the list of suppliers of government vehicles, Xinhua reported.
Certain vehicles made by the 10 automakers have passed environmental standards and gained a green license, Xinhua reported late Wednesday, citing a decision by the State Environmental Protection Administration. The license makes the automakers eligible to join the government's list of suppliers. The report didn't name specific car models. The 10 carmakers include: Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co., a 50-50 venture between Volkswagen AG and China's SAIC Motor Corp.; Shanghai General Motors Corp., a 50-50 venture between General Motors Corp. and SAIC; Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., a 50-50 venture between Honda Motor Co. and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.; Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co., a 50-50 venture between Toyota Motor Corp. and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.; Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., a venture between Ford Motor Corp., Ford's Japanese affiliate Mazda Motor Corp. and China's Changan Automobile Group; and Chery Automobile Co., a Chinese carmaker based in Anhui Province.
