- KEPCO agrees to US$1.65b plant projects

STATE-RUN Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) said yesterday it is to build coal-fired power plants in China in a US$1.65 billion deal.
The project to build two power plants with 1 million kilowatts of power each in Henan Province will be divided into two steps.
KEPCO will build one of the power plants by 2010 under a US$620 million contract, and will build the second plant after 2010 under a US$1.03 billion contract. In 2004, KEPCO won a deal to build similar Chinese plants, each with 600,000 kilowatts of power.
