- Pilot plan may benefit Shanghai, ICBC

A PILOT program allowing Chinese residents to invest directly in Hong Kong-listed securities will be extended to Shanghai if it is successful, an official source said yesterday.
Bank of China's branch in the northern port city of Tianjin will be the initial gateway for the experiment, the government announced Monday. If the pilot runs smoothly, the Shanghai branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) will be the next designated conduit for investors, the source said.
