- 1st non-grain ethanol plant to start operations

A FUEL ethanol plant being built by China National Cereals, Oils & Foodstuffs Corp. (COFCO) in Guangxi will be operational from December, the China Petrochemical News reported on its Web site Thursday.
COFCO has invested 750 million (US$100 million) in developing the plant at the Hepu Industrial Park in Beihai City, the report said, without disclosing where it got the information. The plant, which will use cassava, will be the first non-grain fuel ethanol plant in China and will have an annual capacity of 200,000 metric tons.
