- State Grid sells eight power plants

STATE Grid Corp. of China, the nation's biggest electricity distributor, said yesterday it had sold eight thermal power plants to raise money to expand its overburdened network.
The firm and seven buyers signed contracts Dec. 23 to transfer 6,470 megawatts of power-generation assets, according to a statement on the State Electricity Regulatory Commission's Web site. The buyers are China Huaneng, China Datang, China Huadian, China Guodian, China Power Investment, Shenhua Group and Hunan Xiangtou Holdings.
