PETROCHINA Co., the nation's biggest oil company, began construction of a 12 billion yuan (US$1.5 billion) refinery in Guangxi to meet increasing energy demand.
PetroChina is leading construction of the refinery in the city of Qinzhou, the Beijing-based company said in a statement on its Web site yesterday. Sinopec, Asia's biggest oil refiner, will own 30 percent of the refinery, Chen Tonghai, chairman of Sinopec.
