- Yangtze Power output sinks after drought
Date: 11-Jan-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
YANGTZE Electric Power Co., operator of the Three Gorges hydroelectric dam, said yesterday its electricity output fell 7.72 percent in 2006 mainly due to low water levels caused by a drought.
The company also blamed the lower production, which reached 35.738 billion kilowatt hours, on a cut in its allotment of generating equipment, which it shares with its State-owned parent, it said in a statement.
