- GOME chairman probe terminated

AN investigation launched by Chinese authorities last year into the billionaire chairman of retail giant GOME Electrical Appliances Holding Ltd. has been terminated, the company said yesterday.
Chinese authorities were investigating the origins of a mortgage guaranteed by Eagle Property Group, an investment company indirectly owned by GOME's founder and chairman, Huang Guangyu, which was taken out by an independent third party. 'The relevant public security authority has notified Eagle that it has terminated the investigation and accordingly, Eagle is no longer required to assist in the investigation,'the company said in a statement.
