- Coal output up 8 percent

THE country's coal output rose 8 percent year on year to 210 million metric tons in December, while the full-year total hit a fresh all-time high of 2.33 billion tons, according to preliminary data released by the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety on Thursday.
The volume of coal produced in 2006 marked an 8.1 percent increase over the previous year. The full-year number is also in line with an estimate disclosed by domestic media last week.
