- Guangzhou Shipyard profit may double

GUANGZHOU Shipyard International Co., a unit of China State Shipbuilding Corp., said Thursday profit probably more than doubled in 2006 from a year earlier because of a 'consistently bullish'' shipbuilding market.
The Hong Kong and Shanghai-listed company, based in the southern city of Guangzhou, generated a net profit of 98 million yuan (US$12.61 million) in 2005, it said, adding that it will make public its audited 2006 annual results March 30. China's publicly traded companies are required to issue a notice when they expect earnings to gain more than 50 percent.
