  • Gasoline prices drop for fourth consecutive week
    Date: 29-Jan-2007 Sources: (People's Daily)

Gasoline prices have dropped for the fourth consecutive week in Southern California due to ample supplies, the Automobile Club of Southern California reported Friday.

The drop was the largest amount during that time span.

The average price of a gallon of regular self-serve in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area fell 5.9 cents over the past week to 2.514 dollars on Friday, 12 cents less than last month but four cents more than a year ago, according to the latest Auto Club survey.

The average price per gallon dropped by eight-tenths of a cent from both Dec. 29-Jan. 5 and Jan. 5-12 and 4.6 cents from Jan. 12- 19.

'Local prices are continuing to drop because refiners in California have an excess supply of the winter blend of gasoline, which they will no longer be able to sell after the end of February because of air quality regulations,' Auto Club spokeswoman Carol Thorp said.

The Auto Club provided this breakdown of gasoline prices in selected portions of California and Nevada.
