CHINA'S trade surplus with the European Union soared 31 percent last year, according to State media.
China posted a trade surplus with the EU of US$91.7 billion in 2006, compared with US$70.1 billion the year before, the Xinhua news agency said, quoting ministry of commerce data. The bloc remained China's top trading partner last year, accounting for 15.5 percent of China's commerce with the outside world. China's exports to the EU reached US$182 billion in 2006, a rise of 26.6 percent from 2005, while imports went up by 22.7 percent year on year to hit US$90.3 billion.
