- China's entrepreneur confidence index stable amid upward trend

BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) -- China's entrepreneur confidence index hit a new record at 143.1 points in the second quarter of this year, 1.1 points higher than the first-quarter level, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
An NBS survey of 19,500 companies nationwide showed that 49.8 percent of the entrepreneurs were optimistic about the overall performance of their industries, and another 43.5 percent considered their sectors had seen little change.
The mining sector took the lead in the entrepreneur confidence index, which stood at 161.7 points, roughly the same as a quarter earlier. It was followed by information transmission, computer service and software sector, whose entrepreneurs confidence index remained at around 157.5 points.
The Entrepreneur Confidence Index measures the understanding, views and projections of entrepreneurs. The indicator exceeded the140-point barrier in the first quarter, hitting 142.0 points.
