- Number of working injuries sees rise in Macao

Macao logged 5,570 working injury cases in 2006, an increase of 12.4 percent over 2005, according to official statistics issued Tuesday.
The figures from the Labor Affairs Bureau showed that the accidents led to six fatalities and caused seven people to lose labor capability.
The sectors of hotel and restaurant business, and construction industry topped on the injury list with the percentage of 22.1 and 22.0 respectively, the figures showed.
The region has a population of 500,000 and a total workforce of 266,000 in 2006, according to the statistics.
