SHENCHAO Optronics' fifth-generation (5G) LCD plant in Shenzhen is expected to enter volume production in August 2008, according to industry sources.
The first stage of the company's 5G plant will have a monthly capacity of 60,000 substrates, the sources said, adding that the company will also set up a color filter (CF) plant with a designed monthly capacity of 45,000 units.
Shenchao will also purchase CFs from other manufacturers. Once the first stage is completed, the company will start to establish the second stage of the plant, which will have a monthly capacity of 60,000 substrates and 45,000 CFs, the sources said. A March 22 article reported that equipment installation at Shenchao's plant is scheduled for April 2008.
