  • Americans see China as a leading innovator
    Date: 24-Jul-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)

ONE in four Americans think China will beat the United States in the next decade as the world leader in innovation, according to a survey released Sunday by Zogby International.

Americans aren't happy with the current efforts by U.S. leaders in fostering the next generation of American ingenuity, according to a Zogby poll commissioned by IBM Corp.

Seventy percent said the government is not doing enough and nearly two-thirds of the 8,046 respondents said American business isn't promoting innovation enough either. The online survey's margin of error is plus or minus 1.1 percentage points.

Americans, however, are impressed with China, with 25 percent saying the country will be the world leader in innovation in the next 10 years. Still, 38.5 percent said the United States will be the top innovator.
