- Tax income in tobacco industry exceeds 200 billion yuan

The People's Daily has learned from the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) that the pre-tax income in China's tobacco industry had exceeded the 200 billion yuan mark (or about 26 billion US dollars) from January to June this year, up 26 percent over the same period of 2006, and its economic performance has retained a good, steady growth trend.
