- The first gas field of 'west to east gas transportation' completed

The PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company announced that by the end of May, the first set of six gas fields in the Tarim oilfield of the west to east gas transportation project, had been fully completed. These six large gas fields are able to consistently supply gas to the east for thirty years.
The gas resources in the Tarim basin make up one fourth of total continental gas resources throughout the country. After years of hard exploration by Tarim's oil men, forty large gas reserves have been discovered and confirmed coal deposits have reached 840 billion cubic meters. Faced with complex geological conditions, Tarim's oil men have overcome outstanding problems, such as leakage of the high pressure gas condensate fields, causing the production of Tarim oilfield gas to rise steadily.
